Sketches From The Chair
In June we at NYSATA Region Six joined together to celebrate one of our members who’s work and dedication have been instrumental in the continuing success of the Olympics of the Visual Arts. Carol Ann Pinkans , of the South Colonie School District was named Art Educator of the year for region six.
Many of you may be familiar with Carol’s effort on the Olympics of Visual Arts. Carol has taken upon herself the task of organizing judges for OVA, seeking volunteers from each area of professional expertise to ensure that all teams are given a fair review and positive feedback. Carol has been instrumental in keeping OVA an on going activity enjoyed by art students through out the state. In addition to her work with NYSATA, Carol has been a dedicated art teacher and member of the her community offering her energy and organizational skills to many area organizations.
The NYSATA Region 6 Student Art Award was awarded to Hannah Imbesi of the Sayles School of Fine Arts in Schenectady. Hannah will use the award towards her first year at the Pratt MWP in Utica, NY.
This years state wide conference in Tarrytown on November 16th through 18th, registration forms will be available on line at NYSATA.org., the state wide website. If you haven’t included it in your favorites you should.
NYSATA’s presence on the web is improving every year. The most resent addition is the NYSATA Interim News, a digital version of some of the important information we get quarterly in our NYSATA News.
I think we can assume that our profession will continue to be pressured by tight budgets and shifting standards in the coming years and making our programs as visible and successful as possible should be foremost in all our minds.
NYSATA Region 6 covers an 11 county area of New York State. I would like to have the meetings at locations trough out the area.
