What is NYSATA Region 6?

The New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA) is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to advancing the cause of art education in New York State.

NYSATA seeks to secure a wider recognition of the vital role the visual arts play in our society and the importance of a strong visual arts program in our children's schools.

Region 6 covers an eleven county area in up-state New York, from the Lake George-Saratoga region to the Catskill Mountains and the Mohawk River valley.

The membership of region 6 plays an important role in the continuing success of the Olympics of the Visual Arts and the Legislative Art Exhibit.

NYSATA is a Proud Partner in this Year's Google Design Competition

Want to get your students involved in a fun and inspiring project that encourages them to dream big? Tell them about Doodle 4 Google, a competition where young artists design their own versions of the Google logo around a specific theme.

This year's theme is, "If I Could Do Anything, I Would...". The winning student's school gets $25,000 for a new computer lab, and he or she wins a $15,000 college scholarship and the chance to have his or her design on the Google.com homepage for a day for millions of people to see. And the 40 Regional Finalists will be flown to New York for a final awards presentation at Google's New York Office on May 26, 2010, and will have their designs exhibited at the Smithsonian's, Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum in New York from May 27 to July 8, 2010.

Google allows each public or private school to submit up to 6 doodle entries, and homeschools can also submit up to 2 doodles per school. If you register and submit your student doodles early (by March 10th), you'll have a chance to win the Extra Credit: Technology Booster Award, which is up to 20 netbook computers per school. Teachers must register their school by March 17, 2010, and all entries are due by March 31, 2010.
